DSS funding

DSS (FaHCSIA) funding is available to children under 7 years of age who fall within certain diagnostic criteria. This program will be gradually replaced by the NDIS (link to NDIS section). Children who are currently eligible for this scheme must apply for access to the funding before they are 6 years of age and be diagnosed with one of the following:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Angelman syndrome
  • Cerbral Palsy
  • CHARGE syndrome
  • Cornelia de Lange syndrome
  • Cri du Chat syndrome
  • Down's Syndrome
  • Fragile X
  • Kabuki syndrome
  • Microcephaly
  • Moderate-Severe Hearing Impairment
  • Moderate-Severe Vision Impairment
  • Prader Willi syndrome
  • Smith-Magenis syndrome
  • Williams syndrome

NDIS

Gotcha Talking is a registered provider under the NDIS. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is part of a nation wide funding scheme to assist those with disabilities that may impact their everyday life. The scheme is available to be eligible for the NDIS you need to:

  • Meet residency requirements
  • Be aged between 0-65 years
  • Meet disability requirements
  • Meet early intervention requirements

Centrelink Carer’s Allowance

Children under the age of 16 with severe communication difficulties, are able to have their parents/carers apply for this allowance. It is not means tested and you are able to have your speech therapist assist in the completion of these forms following an initial assessment.
